As a Data Engineer in our Tech Hub in Portugal, you will be an integral part of the Jochen Schweizer mydays (JSMD) Data team. JSMD is the leading platform for adventure gifts in the German-speaking region and one of the most exciting e-commerce investments of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. The JSMD data team is responsible for the data platform on which the JSMD data is consolidated and new business intelligence as well as machine learning products are developed. This platform is currently migrated to AWS / Databricks. You will act as a strategic partner for the product development teams and business users with state-of the art solutions.

What you can expect in this role

• Design, implementation and operations of cloud-based data architectures based on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Development of data pipelines and workflows based on Databricks and Apache AirFlow
• Integration of data from various sources usings tools such as Apache Kafka
• Ensuring data quality and integrity
• Close cooperation with business units and product development teams
• Foster a learning culture that supports the individual development and collective growth of the JSMD data team

Your essential experience and education

• University degree (B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in information technology, computer science, mathematics, statistics or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in processing data at scale as well as building and orchestrating robust data pipelines
• Profound understanding of AWS and passion for Cloud data platforms, especially Databricks
• Strong programming skills in SQL, Python and ideally Spark coupled with a comprehensive understanding of software engineering and CI/ CD principles
• Effective communication skills and the ability to align with peers and stakeholders
• Fluent in English (German language proficiency is a big plus)
